Accounting gives you the tools, skills and knowledge to be able to understand, analyse, process and maintain a company's financial transactions, systems and processes. Your subjects will include the following:

There are 157 competencies in total for the Advanced Diploma of Accounting. You will be assessed continuously throughout the year. Your assingments are marked in the following way: 

  • Competent - high distinction
  • Competent - credit distinction
  • Competent 
  • Not yet competent

Your transcript will have these classifications which is different from a lot of other VET providers who just use the Competent or Not Yet Competent classifications. This grading system is more appealing to employers and universities as they know how well you did, not just that you have the qualification.

If you are looking to continue your studies further, this course can lead to a Bachelor of Management, Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Accounting degree. You will gain 36 credit points towards a 72 point degree which is the equivalent to 1.5 years.

You'll be able to study 1 year and knock 1.5 years off your University degree!

You can gain your 3 year degree in 2.5 years - 1 year at ABA for your Advanced Diploma of Accounting and 1.5 years finishing your Bachelor of Management, Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Accounting at university. We have articulation agreements in place with universities across Australia including the University of Canberra.
